In this initial phase, test takers ensure the functionality of their computer’s camera, speakers, and microphone. They also review test guidelines and provide a valid government-issued ID for verification purposes.

• Following the onboarding, test takers engage in an adaptive assessment lasting 45 minutes. This segment dynamically adjusts difficulty levels based on the individual’s responses, covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Questions are presented randomly, and the complexity escalates gradually as the test progresses.
  • Reading: Test takers encounter tasks where they must identify English words within lines or complete passages with missing words. These tasks are timed.
  • Listening: Participants listen to spoken sentences, identifying English words within them, and transcribing spoken sentences into written English.
  • Writing: Test takers write brief descriptions of provided photo in one or two sentences.
  • Speaking: This section involves responding orally to audio prompts, with an option for replaying and recording answers within 20 seconds. Additionally, participants speak about a given picture for 20 seconds.

In this final phase, test takers respond to prompts with extended answers. Speaking responses are limited to 1-3 minutes, while written responses range from 3 to 5 minutes in length.
